14 May 2013 American Craft Beer Week: Day 1 Tasting - Inversion IPA← SIGN OF THE TIMES
Day One pairing: Deschutes Brewery's Inversion IPA + yellow BEER socks Finally, an excuse to wear BEER socks everyday of the week! May 13 - 19 is officially American Craft Beer Week. That means the next few days are the perfect opportunity to try some new brews and rock BEER socks! We've decided that, along with wearing a different color of BEER socks each day this week, we're also going to taste test a bunch of different craft beers with various members of the extended Gumball Poodle family. These taste tests are serious research into the subtleties of beer culture, of course. So, we're having beers with friends - and it's all in the name of business! Let the
fun research begin! DAY 1: Inversion IPA by Deschutes Brewery with Ed (vintage clothing magnate) Ed says: "the perfect balance of bitter and sweet" and "I like what it does to my head..." Erica says: "oooh...drink one and I'm done. Not for a lightweight." Additional notes: It's been crazy hot in LA, so we drank the Inversion IPA with a greek salad. We both felt if paired really well with the food, perfectly balancing the briney olives, raw onions and feta. This beer was also very filling - almost a meal in itself - so we wouldn't want to drink it while eating anything heavy.
