Pastease founder, Stephanie La Fleur, with her husband and business partner. Aren't they the cutest?!?
We make wildly different products, and yet have so much in common with Pastease, our brand partner in this month's #GirlBossGiveaway, and founder Stephanie La Fleur. It's a treat to get to introduce you to another female founder who puts fun and function right up front with her product and brand!
Pastease - if you can't guess from the name - makes nipple covers, in hundreds of designs. Stephanie is committed to making all women feel beautiful and confident and her bubbling, free spirit energy is tangible whether you're speaking with her or just checking out the Pastease Instagram...though she also has the tough cookie, smart lady boss side too: Pastease was founded in 2002, so 2017 marks 15 years of entrepreneurial success! We have a lot to learn from this girl boss, and we especially love her thoughts on practicing gratitude (more on that below) - something that can be hard to remember when you're stressed with deadlines, etc., etc.
All photos we're sharing here are of real people rocking Pastease! Check out @pastease on Instagram for complete photo credits and loads more fun photos.

But enough about why WE think Stephanie's the best - read our Five Fast Questions below and meet her for yourself! :
If I were a Gumball Poodle sock, I would be?
This is a really tough call my three favs are Fuck- because I love wearing the queen mother of all dirty words. Fruit Cake because it’s absolutely hilarious. Coffee because I’m a hard core Bulletproof coffee lover and pretty much live off of coffee for half of every single day I wake up alive. :-)
What’s at the top of your work playlist right now?
Top of my work playlist is Luke Bell radio on Pandora, I love country western music and love to imagine myself with Dolly Parton hair while rocking the snot out of super tight, high waisted Wranglers. If I’m not listening to Country Western, I’m grooving to classic soul, reggae, Lana Del Rey or Lionel Richie. My music taste is making my love of the fruit cake socks make more sense.
Any advice for future boss ladies and gentlemen?
Future bosses of the world, stay inspired by the world around you. Our whole family finds Pastease inspiration in the craziest of places - get away from your desk and find a happy spot. One of the best things we’ve been doing for quite sometime is saying out loud all that we’re grateful for. It’s easy to get overwhelmed and slow yourself down, do your best to not stunt your growth by focusing on everything all at once. I find when I’m drowning in blessings speaking how grateful I am for all the job security we have really helps us stay on track, keeps overwhelment at bay and our heads in a good space, which only births more energy, clarity and motivation. Gratitude is where it’s at! We have a unique business in that both my husband and myself run it and we homeschool our kids, so it is often the four of us having roundtable discussions. Our children have brought so many great ideas and styles to our business, they also have gained keen business sense. Bringing your children into your business provides them with a true understanding of how business really works and gives them a sense of self worth in helping provide for the whole family. Lastly, be the boss you’d want to have!
Who is another Boss Lady who influences and inspires you? Why?
Boss Lady inspirations - Judy of J. Valentine - she’s like the Willy Wonka of design, a total sweetheart and if I recall, she started her empire out of her home back in the day! She’s a great example of what happens when you combine heart, vision and action. J. Valentine has been a brand that I’ve looked up to for many years now. It’s exciting to look at and feel - each piece tells a story that transports me to a colorful, playful place. There’s a deeper meaning in every design Judy creates, she’s regular sharer of lovebeams. Lisa Chang of Trendy Wendy out of Seattle, WA. Lisa started out as an awesome customer many moons ago, over the years we’ve developed a deep friendship and business relationship beyond that of taking orders and calling it good. I really look up to Lisa for a lot of reasons, she’s like the queen mother of boss ladies and boss gents. She has a small boutique that does more business than some national chains, she does this by truly listening to her customers, creating solid relationships, collaborating with her manufacturers to get one of a kind pieces in her store. I’ve learned a lot of about business from Lisa, shared many laughs and continue to grow as a business woman because of her keen sense of business and generosity with her time and information. Boss ladies become better boss ladies when we unite! Levin Rutherford of Serpent Spiral - she’s been handcrafting the BEST lip tints, body scrubs, massage bars and so much more for quite sometime. She’s inventive and puts so much love into everything she makes. I love coating my body with her handcrafted seductive love infused products, again another example of love being infused into a line. Love and gratitude are everything! Christina Agashi - she’s a sultry, smart lingerie designer that has made quite the name for herself in an industry that can be difficult to grow in. I love seeing her inspirations transform into wearable pieces that scream sexy! She’s created a cult like following with her magical skills, I look up to her for being so disciplined with her craft. Erica Easley - I met her some years back at a gift show. She was such a sweetie with the raddest designs. I was inspired by all the fun that Gumball Poodle has to offer, who knew socks could bring out so much sass and bring so many smiles to everyone they are given to. Erica’s line is a regular reminder of keeping it fun. Meeting Erica also birthed my love for wearing Pastease and Gumball Poodle socks together.
French Kissing - totally underrated. I LOVE macking with my husband. I think we might have world peace if everyone french kissed with their tongue wrestling partner of choice more often.
French Bulldogs - overrated. While cute, I adore our Standard Poodle, Norman, our Weimaraner, Frank, and our Mini Australian Shepherd, Snitzer.
French Tips - overrated. I used to love having my nails done, but it is no longer at the top of my list - my days are filled with running a business, family, cooking from scratch and living off grid in the forest. I haven’t had a manicure in years, once you get used to having naked gnome hands you realize it isn’t so bad.
